First established in 2019, the Calgary Branch was the initial team responsible for the inaugural Youth Leaders in Law conference in November 2019. YLL Calgary has since then expanded its executive board. Our team has worked with numerous lawyers, law firms, and other organizations to bring the YLL experience to youth across the city.

2026 YLL Calgary Annual Conference REGISTRATION OPEN

Register here to attend the Youth Leaders in Law (YLL) Calgary Conference! This in-person session will take place on Saturday, March 7, 2026 from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at the University of Calgary Murray Fraser Hall. During this session, participants will have the opportunity to hear from lawyers across various fields, law school admissions staff and law school students from UofC, and be able to participate in a mock trial. This conference is fully FREE to attend, and free pizza, from Seniores, will be provided for lunch. We will also be providing other free snacks throughout the day. Awards will be handed out at the end of the day. You do NOT need to have any experience with mock trials to participate; you will be taught the necessary skills by venerable law professors before-hand.

Seniores pizza will be served to all participants at no cost.
1:15 pm: Panel Sessions (45 minutes each)
Students will choose to attend 2 out of 4 lawyer panel sessions: criminal law, corporate law, civil law, and family law.

Breaking Into Practice: A YLL Law Career Chat 2026

Breaking Into Practice: A YLL Law Career Chat was an online, interactive pre-conference event designed for students interested in pursuing a career in law. Joined by two current law students and a junior articling student, youth got to hear as they shared their experiences navigating law school, securing internships and articling positions, and transitioning from the classroom to legal practice. This session offered practical insights, honest advice, and an open Q&A, giving participants the opportunity to ask questions about the realities of legal education and early legal careers. Whether you were just beginning to explore law or already planning your next steps, this conversation aided to demystify the path into the legal profession.
